Biosistemak joins the International Women’s Day
Together with BIOEF, we participate in ‘Ni feminista naiz’, the inter-institutional campaign for 8 March, promoted by Emakunde.
Biosistemak reaffirms its commitment to gender equality and joins, together with BIOEF, the inter-institutional campaign for 8 March, International Women’s Day, under the slogan ‘Ni feminista naiz’ (I am a feminist), promoted by Emakunde, the three provincial councils and EUDEL.
This year, the campaign seeks to vindicate the contribution of feminism to society and to highlight the progress made in terms of equality, emphasising that the values of feminism have a transformative power in people’s daily lives.
A comprehensive approach to equality
At our institute, gender equality is a fundamental pillar of our organisational culture. Throughout 2024 and continuing into 2025, we will reinforce our commitment with concrete actions, such as organising awareness-raising sessions for the entire workforce. These sessions, aimed at Biosistemak’s own staff, aim to address key issues to promote an inclusive and respectful work environment, such as:
- Introduction to the basic concepts of equality.
- Inclusion of the gender perspective in scientific and work activities.
- Inclusive communication.
- Protocol against gender-based harassment.
- Prevention of workplace harassment.
These initiatives not only reinforce our institutional commitment, but also contribute to creating a work environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
Women who inspire and lead
At Biosistemak, women have a significant presence at all levels. Currently, 79% of our own staff are women, and 76% of the research staff are women who lead key research projects for the organisation.
These researchers address global challenges, such as improving the health of the population or transforming the healthcare system and social welfare, demonstrating that science and innovation are areas where women play a leading role.
Joining the social transformation
This 8th of March, we are joining the ‘Ni feminista naiz’ campaign to remind people that feminism is an essential tool for building a more just, egalitarian and violence-free society. As the campaign slogan says, ‘Feminism goes with you’, and at Biosistemak we are proud to be part of this transformative movement.
From our institute, we will continue working to promote gender equality, both in the workplace and in society, and to inspire new generations to break down barriers and achieve their goals without limits.
