We reinforce our leadership at the 44th AES Conference

Our researcher, Borja García-Lorenzo, is a member of the Scientific Committee of the event, which brought together nearly 300 people.

From 17 to 20 June 2025, the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies at the Complutense University of Madrid hosted the 44th edition of the Health Economics Association (AES) Conference. Under the slogan ‘Health strategies for a global future: effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability’, this event brought together nearly 300 experts in the field of health economics from Spain, joined by researchers and leading health economics centres from Europe.

In this edition, Biosistemak stood out for the active participation of our health economist, Borja García-Lorenzo, member of the Scientific Committee of the Conference. Borja described the event as ‘a conference to evaluate the things of health and the health of things’. He also emphasised that ‘for some time now, we have been trying to move from economics to health and vice versa, seeking to create a multidisciplinary space that addresses issues of state, such as the environment and labour policies, without losing sight of the guiding principles of methodology and evidence’.

Challenges for health systems

This edition of the AES Conference focused on the challenges facing health systems globally, such as the ageing population, the increase in chronic diseases and inequalities in access to healthcare. It also explored how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies could be the key to optimising resources and improving the quality of care.

Since 2012, Biosistemak has been present at the Conference of the Health Economics Association, consolidating its commitment to health economics and contributing its knowledge and experience in health policy. Our continued presence at this multidisciplinary forum reflects our interest in contributing to the improvement of healthcare systems, combining scientific rigour and strategic vision to address the present and future challenges of public health.
