Third Meeting of the Erandio Local Health Network
The meeting marks a new stage with the presentation of the 2025-2028 Action Plan Erandio Mugitzen ari da! and the leadership of the process by the town council.
On 2 October 2025, the Third Meeting of the Local Health Network took place in Erandio, focusing on the presentation and launch of the 2025-2028 Erandio Mugitzen ari da! Action Plan, which was drawn up as a result of the participatory process that began in 2023. This new meeting of the network was attended by representatives from different entities, organisations and institutions in the municipality, bringing together more than 35 people focused on working and defining the activities that will be implemented in the coming years.
The Erandio Mugitzen ari da! process, developed within the framework of the European Health4EUKids project, has so far received technical support from the Basque Government’s Department of Public Health and the Biosistemak Institute, which have assisted the Erandio Town Council in carrying out the diagnostic, prioritisation and strategic design phases of the plan aimed at preventing childhood obesity and promoting healthy lifestyles.
A participatory plan with 94 activities
During the session, the 2025-2028 Action Plan was presented, the result of the collaborative work of the members of the Erandio Local Health Network, created with the Health4EUKids initiative.
The plan includes 94 specific activities distributed across five actions prioritised in the previous phase, related to a healthy food environment, physical activity and emotional well-being. These activities will serve as a roadmap to promote the health and well-being of the population of Erandio during the period 2025–2028.
The meeting also served to identify the promoters and those responsible for each line of action and activity to ensure the coordination, coherence and sustainability of future interventions to be implemented and carried out in Erandio.
Municipal leadership and continuity of the process
One of the most significant milestones of the project, which guarantees the sustainability of the participatory process, was the announcement of the handover of the coordination and leadership of the project by Erandio Town Council, which has created a technical secretariat made up of the Director of Sport and Healthy Habits —represented by Ione Arruza— and the Head of Public Health —represented by Ainara San Pedro—. Both were presented as new leaders of the project, taking over from the Basque Government to continue this work from a more accessible, participatory and sustained management perspective.
As a collaborating technical entity, Biosistemak continues to support the process through its experience in participatory methodologies and the evaluation of community health interventions. This work has been carried out by the institute, with the key contribution and experience of the Uribe Kosta Sub-Directorate of Public Health in coordinating and promoting the different phases, which have resulted in the Erandio Action Plan.
