
OBJETIVOS GENERALES:
- Prepare everything needed to launch the Networks of Expertise, from defining their missions and objectives, studying their design and working out selection criteria for participants, to providing all items to set up calls for expressions of interest;
- Critically evaluate existing models of current EU networking, research infrastructures and platforms, future networking among comprehensive cancer centres, as well as technologically relevant aspects for optimal functioning of networking in general, in order to properly shape the new Networks of Expertise.
Seven new Networks of Expertise:

- complex and poor prognosis cancer
- palliative care
- survivorship and comorbidities
- personalised primary prevention
- omic technologies for healthcare
- high-tech care facilities
- adolescents and young adults with cancer
The action has 16 work packages distributed as follows: 4 transversal work packages (coordination, dissemination, evaluation and sustainability), 7 corresponding to each Network of Expertise, and 5 transversal tasks which, according to the Grant Agreement, are WP12 to WP16.
A single EU network is expected to help beat cancer in a more equitable way by following a comprehensive modern approach, including showcasing the highest international standards of cancer care, ensuring high-quality cancer care across the EU, and enabling patients to benefit from high-quality diagnosis, treatment and care in the EU and as close to home as possible.
Kronikgune is the competent authority for Spain and leaders of the following Work Packages (WP):
WP4 Sustainability
Objectives:
- Ensure that the established Networks of Expertise assemble the best knowledge, skills and facilities available in Europe.
- Support Networks of Expertise creation by focusing on strategies to guarantee their sustainability and aligning them with European and national policies.
- Contribute to the improvement of EU health care cancer networks ensuring a long-term sustainable model for Networks of Expertise.
- Generate policy recommendations and guidance to facilitate the sustainability of Networks of Expertise, possibly extending also to other health care networks in the EU.
WP12 Integration between health care and research
Objectives:
- Mapping current challenges in the integration between healthcare and research in the perception of clinical researchers and physicians.
- Analyzing existing opportunities to conduct large low-cost clinical trials and generating real-world evidence through networking.
- Improving the coordination of research by providing effective and efficient mechanisms by means of the new Networks of Expertise.
- Widening participation in research and improving the efficiency of research.
