15th EvaluaES Workshop: Granada hosts an edition marked by the third sector
The meeting, held on 6 February, brought together professionals from different fields linked to the evaluation of health policies and services.
On 6 February 2026, the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the University of Granada hosted the 15th EvaluAES Workshop on Research in Health Policy and Service Evaluation, an annual meeting organised by the EvaluAES Group of the Health Economics Association (AES) and coordinated by Biosistemak, which brought together professionals from the academic, health, social and public management fields.
The programme for the 15th EvaluAES Workshop included the presentation of six evaluative research papers, following the characteristic format of the meeting, in which each article is presented by its author and commented on by a leading expert.
Throughout the day, issues of great relevance to public health and healthcare systems were addressed, such as the determinants of the success of community programmes aimed at people in situations of social exclusion, the role of institutional protection against health risks associated with heat waves, the efficiency of primary care and teleconsultation, and the evaluation of prioritisation strategies in surgical waiting lists.
Multidisciplinary exchange and participation of the third sector
This year’s workshop placed special emphasis on the participation of the third sector, incorporating the experience of social organisations such as Médicos del Mundo (Doctors of the World) and highlighting the role of evaluation as a key tool for improving the impact, transparency and accountability of social interventions with an impact on health.
This perspective was integrated into a context of thematic and methodological diversity, with the participation of universities, research centres and organisations from the health and social sectors from different parts of the country, promoting multidisciplinary exchange between diverse academic and professional profiles.
The closing ceremony featured speeches by Borja García-Lorenzo, principal investigator of the Biosistemak Value-Based Care Research Group and coordinator of the EvaluAES group, and Mónica Maure Rico, from the Regional Ministry of Health of the Regional Government of Andalusia and member of the Scientific Organising Committee. Both highlighted the importance of continuing to promote meeting spaces that connect evaluative research with public policy decision-making.
