We take the model for transferring best practice in integrated digital health to Newcastle

The Institute presented the JADECARE scalability methodology at the European 2025 Implementation Conference.

From 4 to 6 June, the Biosistemak Institute participated in the European Conference on Implementation 2025, a leading international meeting organised by the  European Implementation Collaborative, the network of experts in implementation science to improve the transfer of scientific knowledge to real practice, especially in the field of healthcare. The event, held in Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK), discussed the complexity of implementation, how to understand and navigate it in order to generate effective impact, with a particular focus on the necessary balance between scientific rigour in implementation research and its relevance on the ground in practice.

On behalf of Biosistemak, the researcher Yhasmine Hamu and the director of the Institute, Ane Fullaondo, attended the event and presented the poster entitled “Successful transfer and adoption of Good Practices on digitally enabled integrated care across Europe, a scaling-out methodology”.

This paper presents one of the main results of the European JADECARE project: the scaling-out methodology to facilitate the transfer and adoption of good practices in digitised integrated care in different European contexts. This methodology, developed in collaboration with Osakidetza and the Department of Health of the Basque Government, addresses the key challenges of adapting complex evidence-based interventions, empowering stakeholders in implementation and evaluating outcomes in diverse settings.

The Biosistemak poster shared in Newcastle is based on the article “Scaling up digitally integrated care in Europe through transfer of good practice: The JADECARE study“, recently published in the International Journal of Integrated Care, which describes how this methodology contributes to bridging the gap between the development of public health interventions and their effective implementation. In particular, it highlights the transfer of good practices to transform health systems into sustainable organisations capable of improving the health of their populations and delivering high quality care.

The Basque Country as a benchmark in health innovation

The participation of Biosistemak, representing the Basque Country, in the EIE 2025 and in the JADECARE project reinforces the role of the territory as a benchmark in healthcare innovation and implementation science. The experience and results obtained by the Institute contribute to positioning the Basque Country as a key player in the continuous improvement of healthcare, facilitating the adoption of innovative solutions that can benefit both the local community and other European healthcare systems.

After the end of the project in September 2023, the Biosistemak team continues to work on the dissemination of its scientific results.
