We attend the ICHOM 2025 International Congress
The Biosistemak team presented three posters in Dublin on the implementation and measurement of value-based healthcare.
This week, the Biosistemak Institute participated in the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) 2025 International Congress, held at the Dublin Convention Centre from 29 September to 1 October. The meeting brought together global leaders in the healthcare field, policy makers, patient representatives and professionals from different countries to advance the implementation of value-based healthcare and promote health systems that are more focused on the outcomes that matter to patients.
Borja García-Lorenzo, principal investigator, and Ania Gorostiza, biostatistician, presented three research posters on the implementation and measurement of value-based healthcare.
An international benchmark
The conference included keynote speeches, practical workshops, visits to leading healthcare centres and exchange activities on key topics such as the international comparison of patient-reported outcomes (PROMs), the integration of data into decision-making, the active participation of patients in the design of care, and the sustainability of payment models and healthcare service provision.
Within this framework, the Biosistemak team presented the following research studies:
- Exploring barriers and facilitators for the implementation of value-based healthcare: a qualitative study within the OECD Breast Cancer PROM Working Group
- Benchmarking value-based healthcare: drawing a value frontier
- Basing healthcare decisions on value: results reported by patients diagnosed with breast cancer in a European cohort
These contributions reflect the Institute’s experience in analysing patient-reported outcome data, identifying barriers and facilitators to implementing value-based care models, and generating scientific evidence useful for clinical and management decision-making.
Through this participation, Biosistemak reaffirms its commitment to evaluating and promoting organisational models that place patients at the centre of the healthcare system, in line with international trends and the Basque Country’s health innovation policies.
