From October 19 to 21, the Congress Palace of Zaragoza hosts the event organized by SECA and the Aragonese Society for Quality of Care (SACA). 
Under the slogan “Today’s challenges, tomorrow’s quality”, the three-day congress of the Spanish Society for Healthcare Quality (https://calidadasistencial.es/) has merged together members of the Spanish Society for Healthcare Quality, as well as managers, healthcare professionals, and researchers, focused on continuous improvement in services and care for people. The program will address through plenary sessions, thematic and technical round tables, and oral communications and posters different strategies, programs, and projects implemented in healthcare systems related to “Quality in difficult times”, “Artificial Intelligence”, “Relations with patients”, and “Value-Based Healthcare”.
Kronikgune participates in two round tables organized where will present in oral communication the VOICE knowledge-exchange community, and the Gatekeeper European project, specifically the intervention that is being carried out for the management of polypharmacy in chronic patients.
In the session “Area of Value-Based Medicine” a presentation entitled “Health outcomes and costs for basing medicine on comparable value: Experiences from the VOICE community” will be presented. The aim is to share the European VOICE community and the methodological process implemented that has allowed hospitals to perform the benchmarking necessary to improve their model of care, and the possibility of using patient outcomes that put them at the center of the system. The study has been implemented in patients with breast cancer. Preliminary results from the community, focused on patient outcomes (Patient-Related Outcomes PROMs), use of resources, and care process indicators, will be expounded, highlighting the differences between healthcare centers and the importance of introducing a valued-based healthcare new model and paradigm.
In the round table “Quality in difficult times” the intervention carried out in the Gatekeeper project framework for the management of polypharmacy in complex chronic patients will be present. The intervention has been implemented in Osakidetza in 11 Osakidetza’s Integrated Health Organizations (IHOs) and with the participation of more than 250 Primary Care healthcare professionals. The aim is to respond to the high prevalence of complex chronic polypharmacy patients and to the problems derived from polypharmacy, such as the inappropriate use of drugs. The study will assess the effectiveness and experience of using a mobile application (My Treatment) to improve patient adherence, and the use of a web platform (CheckTheMeds) integrated into Osakidetza’s systems to optimize drug prescription.
