OBJECTIVES:
- Establish seven EU Cancer Expertise Networks.
- Improve standards of cancer care in challenging areas.
- Encourage transnational collaboration and research in oncology.
- Ensure the long-term sustainability of networks.
The project is organised around seven thematic networks, each focusing on a specific area of oncology. These networks will work in collaboration with 121 partners from 29 European countries. JANE-2 includes cross-cutting work packages such as coordination, dissemination, evaluation and sustainability.
- Clinical practice guidelines and recommendations.
- Quality of care criteria.
- Health and economic models.
- Educational support and promotion of research.
- Tools and services for the European cancer community.
- Sustainability of the networks beyond the project’s duration.
- Demonstrating the impact of these networks on the European cancer ecosystem.
Biosistemak is actively involved in two cross-cutting work packages:
- WP3 Evaluation: Co-leader of the package and responsible for collecting data to monitor the progress of the project.
- WP4 Sustainability: Leads the development of models to ensure the long-term sustainability of networks.
The Basque Country, through Biosistemak, plays a key role in the evaluation and sustainability of the networks. In addition, a Working Group will be established in the Basque Country focusing on the areas of complex and poor prognosis cancers, survival and care for adolescents and young adults with cancer, promoting research opportunities and continuous training.
