To promote healthy lifestyles in families with children and the community in the Member States participating in the project. In the framework of the project two good practices, Grünau Moves (deployed in Germany) and Smart Family (established in Finland), will be transferred to the different Member States participating in the project.
- Specific objectives:
- To create knowledge and evidence on the requirements and prerequisites to be taken into account by each Member State for the transfer of a good practice.
- Strengthen a cooperative approach to childhood obesity by facilitating the exchange of knowledge and learning skills between Member States and providers of good practice.
- Select and implement actions based on the good practice “Grünau moves” of the Health4EUkids project that offer the best opportunity to tackle childhood obesity among participating Member States.
- Facilitate the transferability and sustainability of good practices to Member States.
- Improve the planning and development of policies to combat childhood obesity in Member States.
- WP1 Coordination: project management and coordination of administrative, financial, scientific and technical activities for the proper implementation of projects. Monitoring and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the commitments and documentation to be generated at project level.
- WP2 Dissemination: Ensure communication between the organisations involved in the project and maximise the dissemination and dissemination activities of the results generated in the activities implemented.
- WP3 Evaluation: Define indicators to assess and ensure that the Joint Action is implemented as planned and that the defined objectives and results are met. Ensure that the knowledge and results produced meet high quality standards, are visible and have a relevant impact in the participating European countries.
- WP4 Transferability and sustainability: Generate knowledge to focus on governance and systems, i.e. health and equity in all policies at local, regional, national and EU level, taking into account society at large to address childhood obesity and health promotion. Integration and sustainability of interventions to strengthen national efforts to tackle childhood obesity through the development of effective policies as part of a broader EU and Member States’ strategy for action.
- WP5 Grünau Moves: Transfer the good practice “Grünau Moves” developed in Leipzig (Germany) to a set of disadvantaged neighbourhoods in different European countries, based on social work, community organisation and participatory processes. Interventions will be implemented in different contexts, aiming for sustainability and adapted to each culture and context, taking into account social, cultural and environmental conditions, as well as social determinants. The intervention focuses on building strong relationships, networks and social links, transparency, trust and activation.
- WP6 Smart Family: Based on Finnish good practice, “Smart Family” aims to help Member States to develop a child obesity monitoring system adapted to national contexts, appropriate to policy requirements and sustainable over time. Development of different practices to support the development and use of childhood obesity indicators for health policy assessment and prioritisation.
As expected results:
- Promote participatory and collaborative work among key actors in the community.
- Train political, technical, educational and health staff of the municipality in community participation with a focus on health equity and health in all policies.
- Create a network or community meeting point between the different local actors including the community, with a focus on integrating health in all policies and actions carried out in the municipality.
- Encourage changes in the lifestyle habits of the child population.
- Improving the well-being of the population
- Develop at least one urban or environmental intervention in the local environment for health improvement agreed with the community.
- Prioritise the most vulnerable population of the municipality in the participation throughout the process and in the achievement of health effects.
Specifically in the Basque Country, the good practice of “Grünau moves” (Germany) will be implemented in the municipality of Erandio, which is part of the Public Health District of Uribe-Kosta. This municipality has been prioritised taking into account its socio-economic situation and other opportunity criteria, such as the favourable predisposition of the local authorities, the existence of a structure for citizen participation, and the collaboration of the paediatric services of the health centres of the municipality of Erandio belonging to Osakidetza’s Uribe Integrated Health Organisation (OSI).
- Pilotage of Euskadi – Municipality of Erandio
Within the framework of the project, a community participatory process is being carried out in the municipality of Erandio, based on the good practice prioritised by the EU Commission “Grünau moves” for the promotion of health and prevention of childhood obesity.
The project, aimed at the entire population of Erandio and specifically at children between the ages of 6 and 12, aims to create environments that promote physical activity and health, and to define new policies and/or urban and planning changes in the municipality in favour of children’s well-being and health, with a focus on equity and the reduction of inequalities.
It is expected that the actions carried out in the municipality will have a benefit on the people who participate and in general on the whole community. In particular, it is expected to improve their living habits, physical and mental well-being and have a direct effect on their health.
