Biosistemak at the 12th International Digital Health Congress

Scientific Director Ane Fullaondo moderated a panel discussion on environmental impact on the third day.

The Biosistemak Institute participated in the 12th International Digital Health Congress, held in Donostia from 15 to 17 September 2025 in a hybrid format from the Miramar Palace. The meeting, organised by the Digital Health Association and the Signo Foundation, brought together specialists from different fields to discuss the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in healthcare systems.

Likewise the congress addressed key issues such as digital mental health, data science applied to clinical decision-making, artificial intelligence in healthcare, improving primary care, equity in access to healthcare and the sustainability of digital solutions.

In addition to national and international leaders in healthcare innovation, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Basque Government. Iñaki Gutiérrez-Ibarluzea, Director of Health Research, Innovation and Evaluation at the Department of Health, participated in the opening ceremony and in the panel discussion on knowledge management and artificial intelligence. Inés Gallego, Director of Health Transformation at the Department of Health, spoke at the closing ceremony.

On the third day, the scientific director of Biosistemak, Ane Fullaondo Zabala, moderated the panel entitled Environmental Impact of Digital Health, which featured presentations by Aitzol Pikabea (Tecnalia), Clara Bergareche (Multiverse) and Alba Ancochea (AstraZeneca).

Digital Health Research Group

Biosistemak has a Digital Health research group, led by Dolores Verdoy Berastegui, which develops innovative solutions to achieve more efficient, sustainable and personalised care.

Its lines of work cover the implementation of ICT in health services, the design of organisational and care models supported by digital tools, and large-scale data management and analysis using big data and artificial intelligence techniques. The aim is to provide scientific evidence to guide decision-making in health and the development of health policies.

Through its participation in the conference and its research work, Biosistemak reaffirms its commitment to promoting digital health as a driver of innovation and sustainability in the healthcare field.
