Biosistemak and the Uribe-Kosta Region of the Department of Health launch the project ‘Erandio mugitzen ari da’
The initiative is part of the European project Health4EUKids, which focuses on the prevention of childhood obesity through the creation of healthy environments.
“Erandio mugitzen ari da!” is the project being carried out in the municipality of Erandio as part of the European programme Health4EUKids, funded by the European Executive Agency for Health and Digital (HaDEA). This pilot project in the Basque Country is coordinated by Biosistemak together with the Public Health District of Uribe-Kosta of the Department of Health, with the aim of preventing childhood overweight and obesity and promoting healthy lifestyles.
Aimed at all citizens, and especially children between 4 and 12 years of age, the project is based on citizen participation to create healthy physical and social environments, promote social cohesion and empower people. All this with a focus on equity and the reduction of inequalities.
Likewise, this Friday, 7 February, a big party for health will be held at the Merkatu Zaharra in Erandio, with the aim of publicising this initiative, the activities that are being carried out and inviting citizens to actively participate in the promotion of healthy environments in the municipality.
Model of integrated community work
“Erandio mugitzen ari da!” is aligned with the Basque Government’s health policies for health promotion and disease prevention, incorporating the co-responsibility and active participation of individuals and communities. The Health Plan 2023-2030 includes the commitment of the Department of Health to the creation and development of healthy, sustainable and resilient environments, as well as to the promotion of citizen participation in public health, one of the central axes of the Basque Public Health Law 13/2023.
The project has adopted a participatory community approach, involving key local agents (City Council, associations, social entities), families, educational centres and health services to identify needs, prioritise actions and plan interventions to promote healthy habits in Erandio.
A party for the whole community
Moreover, the party organised on 7 February will be one of the highlights of the project. Furthemore, the event will focus on healthy environments through interactive activities organised by local associations and key actors
Also, the Platea and the halls of the Merkatu Zaharra will be transformed into a dynamic space where families, children and anyone interested can participate in physical, cultural and social activities. In addition
- The results of the community diagnosis will be shared.
- The proposals put forward by citizens during the previous dynamics will be presented.
- Participatory activities will be organised to prioritise the actions to be implemented in the framework of the project.
Biosistemak invites all citizens to participate in this festive day, which represents an important step towards a healthier future for the children of Erandio and the whole of the Basque Country.
