Biosistemak, an active part of the new phase of RICAPPS
On 6 March, the BAT B Accelerator Tower hosted the presentation of the new phase of the groups attached to our institute.
On 6 March, Biosistemak hosted an important milestone at the BAT B Accelerator Tower: the presentation of the two groups of the Research Network on Chronicity, Primary Care and Health Promotion (RICAPPS) attached to the institute.
RICAPPS is a national network funded by the Carlos III Health Institute. In the new phase 2025-2027, RICAPPS brings together 22 research teams from 11 autonomous communities, covering 90.2% of the Spanish population.
Biosistemak consolidates its leading role in this initiative through the active participation of two of its groups: the OSI Barrualde-Galdakao group, led by Dr. Susana García Gutierrez, and the OSI Bilbao-Basurto group, led by Dr. Amaia Bilbao González. These teams will work on promoting network research aimed at health outcomes in primary care, chronicity and health promotion, with the aim of transferring the results to clinical practice and to health service organisations, thus guaranteeing the improvement of healthcare for the population.
Likewise, Biosistemak has a responsibility in the management of the network, coordinating the work package 14 entitled ‘Developing quantitative and qualitative methodologies, or innovative improvements, for health services research, and tools to capture the patient perspective’. It should be noted that researchers from both groups also have an active participation in the scientific commission and in the dissemination commission.
Strategic objectives for the new period
The recent launch of this stage sets the working priorities, which include: speeding up the transfer of results to clinical practice, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers, clinicians and patients, and promoting innovative solutions to challenges such as population ageing and health inequalities.
This initiative will enable scientific advances to be translated into concrete improvements in healthcare and patients’ quality of life. At Biosistemak, we will continue working to position Basque research at the forefront of healthcare innovation.
