A common European framework has been established in the project in order to tackle the problem of frailty, which is the main risk factor connected with disability in elderly people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the theme \u201c<em>Una estrategia para la promoci\u00f3n del envejecimiento saludable en Europa: combatiendo la fragilidad<\/em>&#8221; (A Strategy for the Promotion of Healthy Ageing in Europe: Tackling Frailty<em>), <\/em>the third meeting of Spanish stakeholders was co-organised by the Department of Health and Family of the Andalusian Regional Government, the Research Foundation of the University Hospital of Valencia together with the University of Valencia, Castile-La Mancha Health Service and<strong> Kronikgune. <\/strong>A report on frailty, \u201c<em>Informe sobre la atenci\u00f3n a la fragilidad en Espa\u00f1a<\/em>&#8221; (Report on Care for Frailty in Spain), and final recommendations agreed at <strong>ADVANTAGE JA<\/strong> to deal with frailty were presented. The results of the project&#8217;s consortium were also shared regarding the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Promotion of healthy ageing: a continuum that starts in the community<\/li>\n<li>Early detection of frailty to increase life expectancy with no disabilities: necessary changes in the healthcare system and the social system<\/li>\n<li>Prejudices against ageing and age discrimination<\/li>\n<li>Role of elderly people in the development of public policy on ageing<\/li>\n<li>Role of partners in multisectoral strategies to deal with frailty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The meeting was aimed at national, regional and local organisations in charge of healthcare and social policy on ageing, and other kinds of entities. Attendees included healthcare professionals <u>(medical, nursing, social work, psychology, physiotherapy, nutrition, etc.)<\/u> and others such as organisations and institutions with activities and programmes aimed at elderly people; foundations and associations working with elderly people; formal and informal carers; and research groups working in areas aligned with ageing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/advantage-reuni\u00f3n-grupos-interesados-espa\u00f1a-gobierno-vasco.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9118 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/advantage-reuni\u00f3n-grupos-interesados-espa\u00f1a-gobierno-vasco.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"433\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/advantage-reuni\u00f3n-grupos-interesados-espa\u00f1a-gobierno-vasco-200x150.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/advantage-reuni\u00f3n-grupos-interesados-espa\u00f1a-gobierno-vasco-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/advantage-reuni\u00f3n-grupos-interesados-espa\u00f1a-gobierno-vasco-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/advantage-reuni\u00f3n-grupos-interesados-espa\u00f1a-gobierno-vasco-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/advantage-reuni\u00f3n-grupos-interesados-espa\u00f1a-gobierno-vasco-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/advantage-reuni\u00f3n-grupos-interesados-espa\u00f1a-gobierno-vasco.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><\/a>At the round table called \u201c<em>Medidas actuales para promover la independencia y la autonom\u00eda&#8221;<\/em> (<em>Current Measures to Foster Independence and Autonomy<\/em>), the Regional Deputy Minister for Employment and Social Policy, Libe Amilibia, presented the \u201c<strong>2015-2020 <\/strong><strong>Basque Active Ageing Strategy<\/strong>\u201d. During the presentation, the Deputy Minister highlighted cross-cutting preventive policy put in place by the Basque Government for anticipation and prevention in order to age better and foster autonomy and independence of people as they grow older. Some of the actions carried out by the Basque Department for Employment and Social Policy were shown, such as the <strong>guide for<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>active and healthy ageing<\/strong>, created together with the Department for Health;<strong> guides to make homes dementia-friendly<\/strong>; and the <strong>guide for dementia-friendly establishments and restaurants<\/strong>, to name but a few.
