There is an increase in the prevalence of excess weight and obesity. Schools are a great place to promote healthy habits because it is possible to reach the population of compulsory school age. As part of the European project \u201c<strong>Pre-Start<\/strong>\u201d, the programme <strong>\u201cBidasoatik Mundura, Sasoi Erronka\u201d <\/strong>has been implemented in the school environment, in order to <strong>promote <strong>healthy lifestyles among students in the 1st and 2nd years of secondary school. <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The implementation and development of this programme has been carried out through a <strong>local health network made up of different institutions and organisations<\/strong>, <strong>Gipuzkoa Public Health<\/strong>, <strong>Bidasoa IHO<\/strong><strong> (Osakidetza)<\/strong>, <strong>Berritzegune<\/strong> (Department of Education), <strong>Town Halls of Ir\u00fan and<\/strong> <strong>Hondarribia<\/strong> and <strong>Kronikgune<\/strong>.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"video-shortcode\"><iframe title=\"BIDASOATIK MUNDURA SASOI ERRONKA PROGRAMA\" width=\"1350\" height=\"759\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qsY17flRgbI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme is addressed to over <strong>1500 students <\/strong>from the <strong>10 school centres of Bidasoa region<\/strong> (Erain, Hirubide BHI, Eguzkitza BHI, Txingudi BHI, Toki-Alai BHI, El Pilar, San Vicente, Irungo La Salle, Talaia and San Jos\u00e9 Hondarribia). Very positive data has been collected throughout the course, with the <strong>participation of 80 % of the students in the activities organised<\/strong>. During the school year, the participating students worked on the following aspects:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>physical activity<\/strong>, by inviting students to participate in an \u201cimaginary tour\u201d around the world and to organise and do activities designed for each country.<\/li>\n<li><strong>healthy food<\/strong>, by completing a questionnaire each term.<\/li>\n<li><strong>creativity<\/strong>, through the development of a summary video with what happened every term at school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All the activities were carried out entirely in <strong>Basque<\/strong>. It is the working language for the organisation and development of the programme. The aim is to promote its use among the participating students and teachers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bidasoatikmundura.eus\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>www.bidasoatikmundura.eus<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0played a very important role in the programme, as a point of reference for the participants. This <strong>interactive, intuitive, attractive, fresh and up-to-date website<\/strong> also served as a catalysing tool and source of information.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-shortcode\"><iframe title=\"AZKEN FESTA Bidasoatik Mundura Sasoi Erronka\" width=\"1350\" height=\"759\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rNgtWDTJfI0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last June \u201c<strong>Bidasoatik Mundura, sasoi erronka<\/strong>\u201d concluded with a final celebration in the Ficoba convention centre in Ir\u00fan. Over 850 students from the 10 centres attended the event, where the <strong>winning school, San Vicente de Pa\u00fal<\/strong>, and the <strong>schools that were most constant in the different areas<\/strong> <strong>during the 2015-2016 school year<\/strong> were proclaimed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>local network<\/strong> has already begun work on a new edition of<strong> \u201cBidasoatik Mundura, Sasoi Erronka\u201d.
