\u201cDiscover the Basque Health Pact\u201d conference<\/h1>\n

Our scientific director, Ane Fullaondo, took part in the event, presenting an update on the implementation of the Health Pact.<\/h4>\n

Biosistemak took part in the \u201cDiscover the Basque Health Pact<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u201d conference, held on 8 June 2026 at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, an event aimed at sharing progress on the implementation of the Pact and raising awareness of ongoing initiatives that incorporate the patient\u2019s perspective into the Basque healthcare system.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The institutional opening address was given by the Regional Minister for Health, Alberto Mart\u00ednez<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, who outlined the future Basque Country Patients\u2019 Act<\/strong>, aimed at ensuring more structured participation and greater influence in health policies.<\/p>\n

Ane Fullaondo<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Scientific Director of Biosistemak, then presented the current status of the Basque Health Pact, as well as the roll-out and definition of ten flagship projects aimed at transforming the healthcare system, within the framework of the methodological support the Institute provides to the Department of Health<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The event brought together officials from the Department of Health and Osakidetza<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, healthcare professionals and representatives of patient associations, and provided an opportunity to learn about various ongoing projects in areas such as primary care, social and community care, care pathways and digitalisation, within the context of the healthcare system\u2019s transformation.<\/p>\n

Progress on the Pact<\/h3>\n

Throughout the day, various initiatives aimed at improving accessibility, the organisation of care and coordination between levels of care were presented. Among these, experiences in primary care stood out, such as the mobile healthcare support vehicle in the Llanada Alavesa region, the development of new nursing triage models, and the incorporation of voice transcription tools in consultations.<\/p>\n

Projects in the social-health and community sectors were also shared, such as the POBA Aretxabaleta<\/a><\/strong><\/span> initiative, along with progress in digitalisation, data usage and the development of care pathways. In this latter area, examples included the breast cancer pathway, initiatives in specialised paediatric care such as the \u00daNICAS network<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and the HaurSare<\/a><\/strong><\/span> model, as well as mental health initiatives aimed at improving coordination and continuity of care.<\/p>\n

Patient participation<\/h3>\n

The conference also addressed the role of patients through two round-table discussions focused on collaboration with the public administration and on promoting their participation in the healthcare system. These sessions were attended by institutional representatives and associations such as ADEMBI<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, ALCER, ASPANOVAS, the Platform of Patient Organisations (POP)<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and AVIFES<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, highlighting their contribution to the design, improvement and evaluation of services.<\/p>\n

In this context, the involvement of more than 165 patient associations at different levels of the system was highlighted, as well as their contribution to improving services, care processes and organisational models.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the Basque Health Pact <\/strong>reinforces citizen and community participation as one of the key pillars for moving towards a more accessible, equitable and people-centred model, incorporating the voice of associations throughout the entire process.<\/p>\n

Meetings of this kind form part of the process of monitoring and promoting the Basque Health Pact, helping to share progress, strengthen collaboration between stakeholders and continue to advance its
