The Institute at the EU-JAMRAI 2 2026 annual meeting in Austria<\/h1>\n

Our researchers, Nerea Gonz\u00e1lez and Maite Zabala, attended the event, held from 28 to 30 January in Vienna.<\/h4>\n

The annual meeting of the European Joint Action on Antimicrobial Resistance, EU-JAMRAI 2<\/strong><\/a>, brought together experts, institutional representatives and scientific and political team leaders from across Europe at the Urania “Mittlerer Saal”<\/strong><\/a> from 28 to 30 January. Over three days, the meeting\u2014organised by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection<\/strong><\/a>, together with the project coordination team from INSERM\u2014became a space for cooperation to advance coordinated policies to address one of the most pressing public health challenges in Europe: antimicrobial resistance (AMR).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Our researcher Nerea Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong><\/span><\/a> participated in the session dedicated to accelerating priorities and translating them into effective policies against AMR<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, where she presented the progress of the work package focused on project evaluation. In her presentation, she outlined the development of the Monitoring Plan<\/strong>, designed to measure the progress of EU-JAMRAI 2<\/strong><\/span><\/a> over its four-year duration, as well as the design of the Impact Assessment Plan<\/strong>, which will allow us to go one step further in assessing the impact of the actions implemented within the framework of the Joint Action.<\/p>\n

Towards a ‘One Health’ approach<\/h3>\n

Gonz\u00e1lez’s contribution highlighted the importance of having robust and comparable methodologies across countries to ensure that the measures planned and adopted have a positive impact on effectiveness. He also stressed the need to guide decision-making towards evidence-based policies capable of generating sustainable change in the field of European public health<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The meeting also addressed key aspects of the ‘One Health<\/span><\/a>‘<\/strong> approach, including coordinated surveillance across sectors, access to antimicrobials, infection prevention and control, prudent use of antibiotics, and evidence-based communication and awareness-raising strategies. At the same time, the #SketchingAMR<\/strong> exhibition was inaugurated at the University of Vienna<\/a><\/strong><\/span> , an initiative aimed at raising public awareness of the problem of AMR through creative formats.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The role of Biosistemak in EU-JAMRAI 2<\/h3>\n

The Institute is part of EU-JAMRAI 2 as an affiliated entity, representing the Basque Country within the European project under the competent authority of the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS)<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. In addition, it leads\u2014together with the Foundation for Health Training and Research of the Region of Murcia (FFIS)<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u2014the work package focused on project evaluation.<\/p>\n

Funded by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) <\/a><\/strong><\/span>and coordinated by the Institut National de la Sant\u00e9 et de la Recherche M\u00e9dicale (INSERM)<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, EU-JAMRAI 2 is a continuation of the first Joint Action carried out between 2017 and 2021. Its objective is to support Member States in implementing concrete and sustainable measures to improve the prevention, surveillance and control of antimicrobial resistance in Europe, strengthening international cooperation and promoting a comprehensive “One Health”
