Our director at the El Correo forum on health data management<\/h1>\n

The Minister of Health, Alberto Mart\u00ednez, and Gontzal Tamayo, Director of Digital Transformation in Health for the Basque Government, participated in the conference held at the Euskalduna Palace.<\/h4>\n

Around 70 experts from the institutional, technological and academic fields gathered on 14 July at the Euskalduna Conference Centre<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in Bilbao to discuss \u2018Health data management: Advances in secondary use for patient improvement<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u2019.<\/p>\n

The meeting, organised by the newspaper El Correo<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and Telef\u00f3nica<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, was attended by the Regional Minister of Health, Alberto Mart\u00ednez<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, as well as Gontzal Tamayo<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Director of Digital Transformation in Health, and I\u00f1aki Guti\u00e9rrez-Ibarluzea<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Director of Health Research, Innovation and Evaluation of the Basque Government.<\/p>\n

Our scientific director, Ane Fullaondo<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, took part in the round table discussion on \u2018Governance and Regulation\/Trends in Health Data<\/strong>\u2019, where she shared her views on the importance of ethical and secure models for the secondary use of data, aimed at improving patient care. Ane stressed the need to \u2018give back to society the value of science, promoting what is known as \u201ccitizen science\u201d and carrying out awareness campaigns to foster trust in the use of their data\u2019.<\/p>\n

She also pointed out that one of the main challenges facing the healthcare system is how to coordinate the Basque Data Office, stressing that \u2018it would be unethical not to use this health data for the benefit of society\u2019. She was joined by Mercedes Jim\u00e9nez (Telef\u00f3nica) and Pilar Nicol\u00e1s (UPV\/EHU<\/a><\/strong><\/span>), and the session was moderated by Gonzalo Tamayo.<\/p>\n

Success stories in the use of data<\/h3>\n

The event was officially opened by Alberto Mart\u00ednez, Basque Government Minister of Health, who highlighted the importance of the Basque Health Data Space, describing it as \u2018a fundamental project for the advancement of the Basque healthcare system\u2019. The inauguration was led by Manuel \u00c1ngel Alonso<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Northern Regional Director of Telef\u00f3nica.<\/p>\n

During the conference, success stories in the use of data to improve health outcomes were also presented by representatives from Osakidetza<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Tecnalia<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and Telef\u00f3nica, in a session moderated by I\u00f1aki Guti\u00e9rrez-Ibarluzea. The event was broadcast live on elcorreo.com and attendance was restricted by invitation only.<\/p>\n

Biosistemak’s participation in this type of event complements its involvement in European initiatives such as Xt-EHR (Extended EHR@EU Data Space for Primary Use)<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. In this project, the Institute contributes to the development of guidelines and specifications for the adoption of the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF)<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, working in particular on the definition of use cases and processes for cross-border telemedicine in areas such as teleconsultation, telemonitoring and online
