Success of the first annual meeting of EU-JAMRAI 2 in Bilbao, organised by Biosistemak<\/h1>\n

The meeting, opened by the Deputy Minister of Health, Enrique Peir\u00f3, brings together more than 200 experts from all over the world.<\/h4>\n

On 12 and 13 March, Bilbao successfully hosted the first annual meeting of the European Joint Action EU-JAMRAI 2<\/a><\/span>,<\/strong> a key event in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR)<\/strong> and healthcare-associated infections. Organised by Biosistemak<\/strong>, the meeting brought together nearly 200 experts from 30 countries<\/strong>, establishing itself as a milestone in international collaboration to address this global challenge.<\/p>\n

As the organiser of the event, Biosistemak played a central role in the coordination and development of this international meeting. The institute was in charge of the logistics of the meeting, which took place at Bizkaia Aretoa<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, and was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Health, Enrique Peir\u00f3<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, and the Director of Health Research, Innovation and Evaluation of the Department of Health, I\u00f1aki Guti\u00e9rrez Ibarluzea<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

During the conference, the progress made in the first year of the project was presented and the priorities for the next three years were defined, highlighting the importance of the One Health<\/strong> approach, which integrates human, animal and environmental health.<\/p>\n

A One Health approach to a global challenge<\/h3>\n

EU-JAMRAI 2, coordinated by the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm)<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, began its activity in February 2024 with a total budget of 62.5 million euros<\/strong>, mainly funded by the EU4Health<\/a><\/strong><\/span> programme.<\/p>\n

This project brings together 128 organisations from 30 countries<\/strong>, including EU member states, Iceland, Norway and Ukraine. Its mission is to reduce AMR through joint actions that reinforce national plans, promote the rational use of antimicrobials and improve integrated surveillance under the One Health<\/strong> approach.<\/p>\n

Biosistemak in the EU-JAMRAI 2 project<\/h3>\n

Beyond its role as event organiser, Biosistemak plays a decisive role in the EU-JAMRAI 2<\/a><\/strong><\/span> project. The institute is the leader of WP3 (Work Package 3)<\/strong>, focused on the evaluation of the project, together with the Foundation for Health Training and Research (FFIS)<\/a><\/strong><\/span> of the Region of Murcia.<\/p>\n

The evaluation of EU-JAMRAI 2 is composed of two main pillars:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Monitoring Plan<\/strong>: The aim of this is to measure the progress of the project, the activities carried out and the results obtained throughout its implementation.<\/li>\n
  2. Impact Assessment Plan<\/strong>: Designed to measure the effects achieved thanks to the actions carried out within the framework of the project.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This work is essential to guarantee that the strategies implemented are effective and sustainable, thus contributing to the reduction of antimicrobial resistance in Europe.<\/p>\n

    Strengthened commitment to collaboration<\/h3>\n

    The first annual meeting of EU-JAMRAI 2 in Bilbao concluded with a strengthened commitment from all participants to continue working in a coordinated manner in the fight against antimicrobial resistance. The Basque Country, through Biosistemak<\/strong> and Osakidetza<\/strong>, will continue to play a key role in this global effort, contributing its experience and leadership in the implementation of innovative and sustainable strategies.<\/p>\n

    This meeting not only consolidates the Basque Country as a leader in health research, but also lays the foundations for future international collaborations in the fight against one of the greatest public health challenges of the 21st
