The event organised by the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) takes place from 10 to 12 November. <\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The main theme of the 14th edition is “The future of public health in a changing world”. Experiences and projects related to Covid-19, the social, economic and health impact that this pandemic has had on society, on the general population, will be shared and presented. Since the beginning of the pandemic, society has seen how health inequalities have increased, how there has been a loss of focus on controlling the impact of non-communicable diseases (such as cancer and diabetes), or how continuous restrictions have been implemented. Public health professionals, managers, researchers and other profiles have gathered for three days to build new ways of communication and seek solutions to the challenges facing health systems today.<\/p>\n

At the round table “Research in chronic diseases”, the Kronikgune Health Economist<\/strong> presents the work carried out together with the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital and the Hospital del Mar, which evaluates long-term video-EEG monitoring (MPVEEG) versus continuing with anti-epileptic drugs in refractory epileptic patients.\u00a0 This work is developed in a context where, regardless of European recommendations, there is a great lack of epilepsy units that use long-term MPVEEG as a diagnostic test of certainty of epilepsy for refractory epileptic patients in Spain. The study concludes that MPVEEG is an effective diagnostic test compared to continuation of antiepileptic drugs. This is a pioneering study in Europe and scalable to similar Spanish economic contexts. In the scenario of a potential deployment of the MPVEEG in Spain, Kronikgune<\/strong> contributes its knowledge in evaluation for the improvement of the efficiency and sustainability of the health system, providing scientific evidence to the decision making on its public funding.<\/p>\n
