December 2023<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #241773;\"><strong>Description: <\/strong><\/span>The project is based on the Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC) model that proposes an innovative strategic framework aimed at guiding healthcare services in their re-organisation to provide patients with the highest value healthcare at the best cost, specifically in the case of breast and lung cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This model combines three elements:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The implementation of systems to measure patient health outcome values: PROMs (<em>Patient Reported Outcome Measures<\/em>) reported directly by the patient on the state of their health; PREMs (<em>Patient Reported Experience Measures<\/em>), measuring the experience of the patient within the healthcare process; and the clinical-value results for the patient, such as survival or the toxicity of their treatments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The organisation of the healthcare practice related to processes or clinical conditions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Estimate of costs per patient during the entire healthcare process.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #241773;\"><strong>Objective: <\/strong><\/span>To assess the implementation process, the effectiveness of clinical practice and its impact on costs grouped by process for an intervention-based measurement of outcome values for patients with breast or lung cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #241773;\"><strong>Secondary objectives: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Create a Europe-wide Hospital Community pioneering in the assessment of value-based health outcomes related to breast and lung cancer including the patient&#8217;s perspective.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Identify factors determining the implementation process of an intervention based on measuring outcome values for the patient, and in the organisation of healthcare by processes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Analyse the effectiveness of an intervention based on measuring outcome values for patients in order to improve patient empowerment, shared decision-making, and physician-patient communication.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Assess the impact of an intervention based on measuring outcome values for patients on costs grouped by clinical process, and in the organisation of healthcare by processes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Identify differences in the implementation outcomes, efficacy and impact on costs between organisations participating in the project at international level (benchmarking).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Integrate the measurement of value-based health outcomes in everyday clinical practice for organisations both systematically and extended over term.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #241773;\"><strong>Study design: <\/strong><\/span>This multicentre prospective study combines an implementation research component and an effectiveness component, using quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection and analysis.
