{"id":5472,"date":"2015-12-02T15:38:46","date_gmt":"2015-12-02T15:38:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/?p=5472"},"modified":"2015-12-03T09:20:11","modified_gmt":"2015-12-03T09:20:11","slug":"launch-of-the-pre-start-project-intervention-at-osi-bidasoa-osi-donostialdea-and-osi-tolosaldea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/en\/launch-of-the-pre-start-project-intervention-at-osi-bidasoa-osi-donostialdea-and-osi-tolosaldea\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of the Pre-Start project intervention at OSI Bidasoa, OSI Donostialdea and OSI Tolosaldea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Recruitment of <strong>adolescents aged between 12 and 14 years<\/strong>, who will be included in the health promotion and lifestyle modification programme, will commence in October. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/intervecion-grupal-euskadi-proyecto-europeo-pre-start-kronikgune.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-4565 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bio-sistemak.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/intervecion-grupal-euskadi-proyecto-europeo-pre-start-kronikgune.jpg\" alt=\"intervecion-grupal-euskadi-proyecto-europeo-pre-start-kronikgune\" width=\"340\" height=\"395\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The group-based intervention of the <strong>Pre-Start<\/strong> project <em>Prevention Strategies for Adolescents at Risk of Diabetes, led by <strong>Dr. Itziar Vergara<\/strong>, the <strong>aim of which is to approach aspects related to a healthy lifestyle<\/strong> by concentrating on three basic pillars, namely <strong>diet<\/strong>, <strong>physical activity<\/strong> and <strong>emotional health<\/strong>, has commenced with the training of professionals from the participating organisations. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Primary care professionals from the participating organisations will have to identify <strong>100 adolescents with risk factors for the development of type 2 diabetes and who present <\/strong>overweight and sedentary behaviour, who will be randomly assigned to two groups. The first, control group will receive standard follow-up and the second, intervention group will be included in a specific programme.<\/p>\n<p>This programme is divided into two phases: the first and most intensive phase comprises eight educational sessions led by nutritionists, conducted over eight consecutive weeks, and the second, follow-up phase consists of reinforcement sessions to improve adherence to the programme (intervention months 3, 6 and 9). Two parallel working groups, one comprising the participating adolescents (12 per group) and the other comprising their parents (20 persons per group), will be created as part of the intervention.<\/p>\n<p>This system uses <strong>cognitive behavioural<\/strong> and <strong>psychodynamic techniques<\/strong> to present topics such as the principles of a <strong>healthy diet<\/strong>, to <strong>increase physical activity<\/strong>, <strong>decrease physical inactivity<\/strong>, improve <strong>self-control<\/strong>, <strong>improve body image and communication<\/strong> and facilitate <strong>conflict resolution and assertiveness<\/strong>, amongst others.
